# Accessibility notice

Available ways to use Brick Buddies, current limitations and how to report a barrier.

## Our aim and current status

We want children and the adults supporting them to be able to use Brick Buddies in ways that suit them. We use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a design and improvement reference.

This is an accessibility notice, not a conformance certificate. We have not completed an independent, comprehensive WCAG audit and do not claim full A, AA or AAA conformance. Feature checks and layout tests do not establish complete accessibility.

## Ways to use the app

- Use a physical keyboard or the on-screen number pad to enter answers. Tab moves between controls, Enter checks an answer and Backspace edits typed digits. Working boxes have their own keyboard and keypad support.

- Choose written answers or multiple choice in Grown-ups → Settings. The available balance depends on grade and activity.

- Controls include accessible names, visible keyboard focus and status messages for feedback. Dialogs use focus management and labelled controls.

- The app honours the device’s reduced-motion preference for animations and transitions.

- The interface adapts to phone, tablet and laptop screens, and working pads include space for phone safe areas. Browser zoom is not disabled.

- Children enter carrying and regrouping themselves in optional working boxes. There is no timed question countdown.

## Known limitations

- Some block diagrams, arrays, fraction pictures and landmark models rely on visual and spatial understanding. Text descriptions may not provide an equivalent experience for every task.

- The complete app has not been verified with every screen reader, switch control, voice control or magnification setup.

- Ordinary correct answers advance after a brief celebration. Completed landmarks wait for Continue. There is currently no manual-advance setting for ordinary answers, which may make their feedback harder to review with assistive technology.

- Complex calculations can be dense on small screens. At enlarged text or zoom settings, scrolling may be needed.

- Working-pad boxes use a custom keypad and may behave differently from a standard editable text field with some assistive technologies.

- Hints are temporarily unavailable. Curriculum resources linked from Grown-ups are maintained by other organisations and may have different accessibility.

## If something is difficult to use

Try the answer style in Grown-ups, the device’s reduced-motion setting, or a larger display if available. An adult or teacher can help choose another way to practice a skill. These options may help but do not replace fixing a barrier.

To report an issue, contact the operator below. Tell us the page or maths activity, device and browser or app version, any assistive technology, and what you expected to happen. Screenshots are optional; remove children’s names and other personal information. Tell us if you need a response in a particular format.

## Ongoing improvements

We review reported barriers and update this notice as features and testing change. We cannot promise that every issue has been identified or give a fixed repair date before investigating it.
